A healthy community through caring for people one individual at a time.
In 1927, a group of dedicated citizens known as the Fort Hamilton Hospital Association came together to create a new hospital in Hamilton. Securing donations from more than 8,000 residents, the group was able to accomplish the phenomenal feat of raising $500,000 in just two weeks. This generous financial support from the surrounding community enabled Fort Hamilton to begin serving patients in May of 1929.
Butler County’s choice for health care
Since its humble beginning more than 75 years ago, Fort Hamilton Hospital has operated with the single focus of meeting the health-related needs of the community. In fact, more people in Butler County choose Fort Hamilton Hospital than any other for their health care needs. In order to better serve this aging and growing population, we have:
- completed construction of a state-of -the-art intensive care unit (ICU). Now our sickest patients can receive even better medical care close to home.
- expanded and enhanced our emergency services. Cutting-edge health care technology helps facilitate the quick diagnosis and treatment of acutely ill patients.
- begun enhancing many of our key outpatient ancillary/diagnostic testing services and relocating them to the first floor of the ICU. Patients will soon be able to easily access improved radiology, women’s health, cardiac, vascular, and surgical services from our new north entrance.
Exciting changes are on the horizon
It is with great excitement that we look toward the future of health care in Butler County. We will continue leading the way to better health in our community by broadening our scope of services, providing the latest health care technology and enhancing overall patient care. We have many innovative changes due to be completed within the next year and a half. Technological upgrades, increased/renovated space and new physician relationships will allow us to better serve our patients. Also, we will be providing more opportunities for community members to participate in hospital-sponsored events that focus on health promotion and wellness education.
Winner of prestigious awards
In 2006, Fort Hamilton Hospital was chosen by US-News & World Report as one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation for respiratory care. Also in 2006, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations awarded the Ernest A. Codman Award to a team of Greater Cincinnati hospitals, including Fort Hamilton Hospital. The Codman Award recognizes excellence in the use of outcomes measurement by health care organizations to achieve improvements in the quality and safety of patient care. And in 2005, the Ohio Hospital Safety Campaign recognized Fort Hamilton as a Top Twenty Percent Award Recipient.
Health Alliance
While Fort Hamilton Hospital offers the convenience and personalized care of a community hospital, it is also part of the Health Alliance, an integrated health care delivery system that includes The Christ Hospital, The University Hospital, The St. Luke Hospitals, The Jewish Hospital, Drake Center Inc., and the physicians of Alliance Primary Care.
