Our History
Fort Hamilton Hospital – built by the community, for the community
In 1925 a group of dedicated citizens known as the Fort Hamilton Hospital Association came together to create a new hospital in Hamilton. With donations from more than 8,000 residents, the group was able to accomplish the amazing feat of raising $500,000 in just two weeks. This generous financial support enabled Fort Hamilton Hospital to begin serving patients in May of 1929.

A promising future
We continue to lead the way to better health in our community by broadening our scope of services, providing the newest health care technology and enhancing overall patient care. Our latest project is the newly opened enlarged and improved patient care space and technology in our Gebhart Center for Cancer Care.
In another major project, we are renovating and relocating several services to be more convenient to you. Once this project is complete, outpatient physical therapy, the wound healing center and anticoagulation services will be located just a few steps from an outside entrance, making it easier for you to access these advanced therapies.
Additional technological upgrades, increased and renovated patient care space and new physician relationships are allowing us to better serve you. We also provide numerous more opportunities for our community to participate in hospital-sponsored events that focus on health promotion and wellness education.
