An emergency isn’t the time to plan for one. That’s why Fort Hamilton Hospital’s Carruthers Emergency Center is ready to handle the emergencies faced by our community every day. From minor injuries to major illnesses, our nurses, doctors and paramedics are dedicated to saving lives. Leading-edge diagnostic technology allows patients to be diagnosed and treated efficiently and effectively. Digital radiology services administered right in the emergency room reduce waiting time with instant digital images. Fort Hamilton is also the only hospital in the region that uses bedside ultrasound for faster diagnosis and treatment of many abdominal conditions, such as appendicitis or ectopic pregnancy.

- designated/computerized patient tracking system that facilitates patient movement through the care process.

- Fast Track area for rapid treatment of minor illnesses.
- two-bed trauma crisis room.
- Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), which provides care for victims of sexual assault and assists law enforcement officials and prosecutors.
- private patient rooms.
- children’s play area.
- decontamination room for patients involved in chemical spills or who have highly infectious diseases.
- wireless system connecting our emergency department to local emergency squads allow a patient’s information to be transmitted to the emergency department prior to arrival.
