About the Fort Hamilton Hospital Foundation
Enriching lives through charitable giving
The very existence of Fort Hamilton Hospital is a tribute to the early physicians, churches, civic leaders and citizens of the Hamilton community whose tireless efforts and perseverance made the hospital possible. With Mercy Hospital, a Catholic organization, on the east side of Hamilton, a group of forward-thinking citizens came together and decided that Hamilton needed a community hospital to serve the west side of Hamilton as well as residents who did not practice the Catholic faith. Within 2 weeks, the community raised more than a half million dollars to establish a building fund for their community hospital with the opening of the new hospital on May 1, 1929.
That tradition of generosity and spirit of philanthropy have remained a part of Fort Hamilton Hospital’s heritage. Over the years, when asked, the community has generously donated millions of dollars to help our community hospital expand services, improve patient care areas, provide services to the community, enlarge our hospital and bring state-of-the-art technology to an area where providing excellent health care to you is Fort Hamilton Hospital’s mission.
The mission of the Foundation is to generate and administer funds that will benefit Fort Hamilton Hospital. To that end, there are many ways of donating to the hospital that can enhance your giving experience and can benefit the hospital as well as your family.
